Following the mixed reception of Kalki 2898 AD, director Nag Ashwin is reportedly setting his sights on a major female-led film, with Alia Bhatt emerging as the frontrunner for the lead role.

Nag Ashwin has not made any announcements about his upcoming directorial projects. He has been saying that the second part of Kalki 2898 AD is his top priority.

The recent official announcement of Tollywood Rebel Star Prabhas signing a three-film contract with Hombale Films has elevated excitement among all. However, the recent buzz on social media is that Ashwin has either shelved the Kalki 2898 AD sequel or put the project on hold.

Nag Ashwin’s last film, Kalki 2898 AD starring Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Disha Patani among others revolved around a dystopian world. The film shows a story where Kalki is about to be born to rid the people of their miseries and Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Ashwatthama who has the duty to protect the unborn child.
