Las Vegas police have identified the officer who fatally shot a knife-wielding suspect near Sunset Park on Tuesday.

Officer Alexander Bookman, 26, who has been employed with Metro since 2021, is on routine administrative leave following a deadly shooting on Wine River Drive in a neighborhood near Eastern Avenue and Sunset Road.

Around 12:40 a.m., officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to multiple reports of a shooting in the 6900 block of Wine River Drive.
